Escape to Fort De Soto! Saturday Paddle Adventure
Details
Let’s get back on the water!
Join Saltwater Paddle Crew for a Saturday morning adventure at beautiful Fort De Soto. We’ll launch from the end of the park road and paddle through the mangrove areas toward the sandbars, where we’ll have time to relax, swim, take photos, explore, and enjoy the water with the crew.
September is still summer in Florida, so we’re planning an early morning launch to take advantage of cooler temperatures, lighter winds, and better water conditions before the typical afternoon weather rolls in.
This is a relaxed exploration paddle, not a race or a workout. We’ll keep a comfortable group pace, take breaks, and enjoy the scenery. Keep an eye out for dolphins, rays, pelicans, manatees, and other wildlife along the way.
Meet: 9:00 AM
Launch: Around 9:30 AM
Return: Around 12:30 AM
Difficulty: Moderate
Experience Level:
Experienced and intermediate paddlers are welcome. Confident paddlers with some experience may join, but this is not a beginner lesson or training session. You should be comfortable controlling your paddle board or kayak independently and handling changing water conditions. This event is not intended for children.
What to Bring:
• Paddle board or kayak
• Paddle
• Life jacket
• Plenty of water
• Sunscreen
• Hat and sunglasses
• Snacks
• Dry bag for your phone and valuables
• Pump if you have an inflatable paddle board
Equipment Rentals:
We now have a limited number of paddle boards available to rent for group events. Our inflatable boards are more stable and are a better option for recreational paddlers. We also have a fiberglass performance board for experienced paddlers who prefer a faster and more responsive board. Please contact us ahead of time if you need to reserve equipment.
Important:
Water and weather conditions can change quickly at Fort De Soto. The route may be adjusted depending on wind, tide, currents, thunderstorms, boat traffic, or overall water safety. Reaching the sandbar is always our goal, but safety comes first.
This is a community paddle, not a guided tour or professional training session. Everyone is responsible for their own equipment, transportation, water safety, and personal decisions on the water.
Come ready to paddle, explore, swim, meet some good people, and enjoy one of the most beautiful corners of Pinellas County.
