About us
Whether you're extremely busy or have lots of free time on your hands, if you have a big heart, then this meetup is for you! Let's join together to make a positive difference in San Antonio by participating in service projects. Service projects will be one-offs (in other words you can volunteer for a single event without any long-term commitment) which is great for busy people and those who like variety. The idea is to do group volunteering so we can meet, get to know each other & make friends while serving the community. Because people have varying interests, we'll include different types of projects. This group is also helpful to learn about volunteer opportunities in the community. Who's In?

Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities: St. Patrick’s Weekend
We are officially gearing up for our first major event weekend of the year, and I am SO excited to see all of your lovely faces again!
Join us at the Arneson River Theatre at La Villita on Saturday and Sunday (March 14 and 15) to help with audience games, distributing freebies, supporting activations, and keeping the energy high throughout the celebration. It is always such a joyful weekend and truly one of my favorites.
We also need volunteers for the 2nd Annual Emerald Run 5K, happening near Elsewhere off Jones Ave and Avenue B. We will be cheering on our runners and helping pass out medals to our lucky 5K finishers. It is such a fun and positive way to kick off the day, and we would absolutely love your help.

Tell us you are coming by RSVP here on Meetup - please use the link above to sign up with Soldiers Angels. It will help them know how many volunteers they will have and it will make your sign-in at the event much easier. This Food Distribution is for Homeless Veterans, Veterans in Need and their families. If you've ever wanted to THANK a VETERAN FOR THEIR SERVICE this is your chance! We'll be packaging and putting food in the cars of approximately 230 Veterans - maybe more! During Food Distribution, the SA Food Bank delivers a truck FULL of food - in big bags/boxes. We don't have to unload the truck (anymore) but we'll bag the food into sizable portions - according to the number of veteran families in need that day. During this event, the SA Food Bank will bring enough food to serve anywhere between 200 - 250 families. Come help our cause and truly make a difference to our local veteran community. Volunteers assist by: - Helping to verify the veterans' status (check ID cards) and check them in (they’re all pre-registered) - Interacting with those waiting in line for food - Packing groceries for distribution - Loading groceries into their vehicles - set-up tents, tables, signs, etc., etc.,.
You must be at least 15 years old to volunteer for this event.
Please pre-register using the link above. When you arrive, introduce yourselves to each other, check-in or sign-in (3 sheets if you didn't pre-register), and we'll brief everyone on how to set-up for the event. There will be water and various snacks. Wear comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes (no sandals), hat (if you wear hats), and bring gloves if you'd rather wear something other than disposables. We will be working outside and we never know what the weather will be. We work no matter what! Some of the boxes can be heavy, but you will not be asked to carry or do more than you can or want to. Take a couple of pictures if you can AND have fun! :)Sign-Up using this link -
