SA Volunteer Buddies

We operate one of San Antonio’s largest food pantries, serving around 350 families weekly (except Thanksgiving when we serve up to 500). Each distribution includes a variety of food items. Clients register and sign in beginning at 8 am and food distribution starts around 11 am each Thursday. Volunteers are needed from 9am-2pm in roles like sorting food items, cart pushers, baggers, registration assistants, and parking attendants.

Disco Dancer Volunteers Needed!
Volunteering with Disco al Fresco is not your average event gig. You're not working a conference or scanning badges at a corporate function. You're part of the crew that makes one of San Antonio's most electric summer experiences come to life! From the moment the gates open to the last song of the night. You'll meet the community, feel the music, and leave every Thursday knowing you were part of something real. If you love good music, good people, and good energy, this is your summer!

Catch Disco Dance Fever Alfresco every Thursday night in June and July at the Sunken Garden Theater this Summer. Different nights, different vibes.

COMMUNITY DISCO.NIGHT PICNIC. MARKET. A massive concrete floor built for dancing. Our Airstream DJ booth pumping music from the stage. The sun setting behind the hillside just as the music starts. Friends and families picnicking. Small businesses finding customers. A disco full of diverse and friendly faces from across the city. Different nights, but never the same experience.

Volunteer Terms & Conditions — Disco Alfresco Summer 2026 By submitting this application, you agree to the following: Eligibility. Volunteers must be 19 years of age or older at the time of their scheduled shift. Shifts. Volunteers are assigned to one of two shifts per event night. Shift times and assignments will be communicated in advance. You are expected to arrive on time and stay for the full duration of your assigned shift. Commitment. Showing up is everything. If you need to cancel, notify us at least 48 hours in advance so we can fill your spot. No-shows without notice may be removed from future volunteer opportunities. Perks. Each confirmed volunteer receives 3 complimentary guest tickets plus their own free entry for the event night they work. Tickets are valid for that date only and are non-transferable. Conduct. Volunteers represent Disco Alfresco and are expected to treat all guests, staff, and fellow volunteers with respect. We reserve the right to dismiss any volunteer whose conduct is disruptive or inconsistent with our community values. Nature of Role. Volunteering is unpaid. This is not an employment relationship. Volunteers are not entitled to compensation beyond the stated perks. Photo & Media. Backpack and School Supplies drive for the homeless children at the Strong Foundation, a homeless shelter for families here in San Antonio. August 1, 2026.
These kids want to succeed as much as any other kid, but often start way behind the starting line because they simply do not have the tools and materials to keep up - always due to circumstances beyond their control.
The goal - give these kids a chance so they can start school like everyone else.....at the starting line with the tools to participate and learn!
So many of us started out life behind that line, and have had to work extra hard just to get to the starting line before we could get ahead.

So, how to do this...........
Between now and August 1st.
Donate whatever you can to our pile of supplies.
List is supplied at the end.
This year we have 35 kiddos we need to help.
11 day care - pre-k
9 elementary (9 Kinder thru 5th grade)
6 junior high
4 high school

The SA Food Bank fights hunger by delivering a big truck of food to Windcrest United Methodist Church and and volunteers (us) bag it up & distribute it to 100 -150 families. Come help our cause and truly make a difference in our community.

Volunteers assist by:

• Packing groceries for distribution
• Transporting groceries to vehicles
• Interacting with those waiting in line for food

You must be at least 12 years old to volunteer for this event. A pre-orientation is not required to volunteer.
When you arrive, sign-in, introduce yourselves to each other, and just wait for the person-in-charge to come out and brief everyone. He/She will explain the process - what he/she needs from you and where your help is needed the most!

Wear comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes, hat/cap and a pair of light gloves (plastic gloves work OK). Water & light snacks will be provided. We will be working outside, allot of standing & bending over - no heavy lifting. Take a couple of pictures and post them if you can! MOSTLY have fun!
