The Blues-Rock Meetup Group has been hosting jam sessions since 2017. We have been playing covers of classic rock and creating songlists for each jam. Now, I want to get musicians together to improve our solos, improvisation skills, and extended jams.
Musical improvisation begins with a melody, riff, or drone sound, and each musician’s solos takes the song into a new direction. We can improvise over rock, blues, metal, funk, jazz, or psychedelic arrangements.
It would be fun to create our own arrangements of songs: (1) extending the solos, (2) creating conversations between instruments, and (3) adding time changes- playing fast and then slowing it down.
My idea is to create a practice group that meets several times a month and have fun working on ideas. Members of our band who would like to perform at events can also schedule an audition for that group.
