Oak Riparian Park / Lake Calavera Preserve:

We will meet at 6:45 a.m. in the parking lot. Run starts at 7:00 a.m. at the trailhead. Meet in the parking lot. DM if you need guidance. The event setting is unique, offering beautiful views. You can choose your distance 2 to 4 miles. Options for an easy, minimal hill run or choose the more difficult & challenging 4-mile loop around the Lake. Trail is 1 to 4 tracks wide, well-groomed, and compact with minimal gravel. Minimal shade coverage, bring ample water for you & your dog. A post-run water trough will be provided for canine cool-down.

DM Event Hosts for location directional guidance if needed.

FYI: Canicross running is best performed in temperatures cooler than 68 degrees to avoid heat exhaustion in dogs, if temps are warmer than 71 degrees the meetup will be considered cancelled, for the health of the dogs.
If you don't have specific Canicross sports dog-gear,...No Worries! There's canicross dog harnesses available for purchase. Limited sizes, its first come/first serve on the gear. Howling Dog Alaska & Non-Stop Harnesses.
Please read all below.
Suggested Equipment:

  1. Canicross Belt or Runner's Hands-free belt.
  2. Dog Harness with back attachment. No "run-restricted" harnesses.
  3. Dog Leash or Canicross Bungee leash.
  4. Water & Treats - For you & your dog.
  5. Bring you own canine first aid kit.
  6. Wag Bags provided at Park.
  7. Rabies shot & dog license must be current.

***Please, no dogs under one year old. Their bodies are not fully developed yet and need a bit more time to grow before pulling in a harness.
***Not Recommended for Dogs with shorter muzzles, i.e. Pit Bulls, Boxers, etc. are not well suited for canicross running, because of strained breathing issues & heart stress. I'm not the best at canine CPR.
***We're here for a low stress fun for Owners and dogs! Maintain a 6FT distance from each other.
***Should your dog show signs of aggression towards other dogs or humans, you'll be asked to leave.
***Protect the safety of dogs and their human teammates at the meet-up all times. If your dog damages another dog or person, YOU are responsible for any damages & medical bills to the wounded party.
