About us
This group is for people who love the art of storytelling and the stoke of the ocean. We’re building a community that enjoys both film and surfing, with a focus on indie and Oscar-nominated films and riding waves.
We enjoy long rides and long takes. We chase good lines, whether on screen or across the face of a wave, and appreciate the patience, rhythm, and feel that connect both.
If you dig both film and surfing, even casually, you’re in the right place. You don’t need to be an expert in either, just genuinely enjoy both.

We’ll usually catch a flick and discussion at a theater in the UTC/UCSD corridor or downtown at Digital Gym Cinema. For standard movie theaters (AMC, Cinepolis, etc.), schedules are typically released on Fridays, so exact times will be posted when available.
We’ll typically meet for dawn patrol at spots like Tourmaline or La Jolla Shores. All levels of wave-riding experience are welcome. You’ll need a wetsuit (4/3 recommended in winter months) and a surfboard. We’re here to enjoy the ocean and good company while improving together. We believe there are plenty of waves to go around. The vibe is social and community-driven, not agro or hardcore.
While weekends are the general rhythm, the Friday / Sunday flow is flexible and not meant to be taken too literally.
