Rooted in relationship: a seasonal reunion in Oak Canyon

Details
We return to Oak Canyon Trail as the warmth of summer settles over the land—a continued conversation with a place that has welcomed us before.
Our walk invites us to notice what has changed since spring: the golden grasses, the hush of the afternoon heat, the resilience of life adapting to the season.
By coming back to the same place through different seasons, we deepen our relationship with the land—noticing subtleties, honoring cycles, and remembering that we too are part of nature’s rhythm.
This canyon has long held stories. For generations, the Kumeyaay people moved through this space with care and reciprocity, gathering from the San Diego River and living in harmony with the oaks and sycamores that still shelter this trail.
We will begin our gathering with a land offering, honoring their ancestral presence and continued relationship with this place.
If you feel called, you’re welcome to bring your own offering—something simple and heartfelt. This might be a flower, a stone, a few drops of water, a song, a breath, or a quiet intention. No need for anything elaborate; what matters most is the spirit of gratitude and respect.
As always, our pace will be slow and quiet, allowing the land to guide our awareness.
There will be moments for quiet reflection, gentle invitations to connect with the senses, and space to share what arises, if you feel called.
Whether you joined us in spring or are visiting Oak Canyon for the first time, you are welcome.
Come as you are—to reconnect, restore, and walk in harmony with this summer landscape.
We look forward to walking with you.
