Deepening our connection with the Coast Walk Trail in La Jolla

Details

In the heart of summer, we return to the Coast Walk Trail in La Jolla, to continue tending our growing relationship with this land.

When we first walked here in early spring, the trail greeted us with fresh breezes and the quiet stirrings of a season just beginning.

Now, we arrive again under the full light of summer, invited to notice what has changed, what endures, and how our presence here has deepened.

This walk is a gentle invitation to return—not only to a familiar trail, but to the practice of building relationship through quiet presence, attention, and gratitude.

With each step, we listen more closely. With each visit, we are remembered by the land as much as we remember it.

We’ll begin by gathering in stillness, offering a moment of gratitude to the land, the ocean, and the ancestors who have walked here before us.

This coastline, known to the Kumeyaay people as Mut kula xuy or “Holy Land”, is a place of deep cultural and spiritual significance.

As we move slowly along the bluffs, we’ll walk mostly in silence, attuning to the sound of waves below, the salt-sweet breeze, and the life held in this meeting place of land and sea.

The trail winds through nesting grounds of seabirds, past native plants shaped by wind and sun, and opens to sweeping views of the Pacific.

Midway, we’ll pause to sit and reflect, creating space for integration and optional sharing.

On our return, we’ll gently open to conversation, walking together in ease and connection.

This walk is for those seeking to nurture an ongoing relationship with the natural world, not only as visitors, but as part of the living community of this place.

We look forward to walking with you!
