Returning to Oak Canyon: a late autumn walk rooted in relationship
Details
The canyon keeps shifting. Summer’s warmth has softened into cool afternoons, fallen leaves drift along the trail, and the oaks and sycamores hold their quiet strength while quietly transforming with the season.
As we return to Oak Canyon, we are invited to notice what the land has released, what it keeps close, and how it continues to change. The canyon whispers of patience, stillness, and the gentle rhythm of endings that lead to new beginnings.
Walking this trail again reminds us that deepening our relationship with place takes time. By returning through the seasons, we notice subtle changes, honor the cycles of life and rest, and remember that we too are part of these rhythms.
We will begin with a grounding practice and a land offering, honoring the Kumeyaay people and their enduring relationship with this canyon. You are welcome to bring a small offering if you feel called—perhaps a leaf, a stone, a breath, or a quiet intention of gratitude.
Our walk will be slow and mindful, guided by silence and the senses. Noticing the textures, the scents, the quiet songs of the land, and the subtle shifts happening around you as the season deepens.
We will pause to sit, breathe, and ground — giving space to integrate what the land offers and the reflections it awakens. From this place of presence, you’re welcome to share what arises, or simply sit in shared stillness.
Come prepared for cool air, soft light, and gentle wind.
We look forward to walking with you!
