January 2023 Meeting - Plugin Sneak Preview

Happy New Year! It’s time to come back to user group, holiday break is over. And we’re lining up a great year of meetings for you all. And we’re kicking off 2023 with a great one. But before we get to that, wanted to update you all on what we’re aiming to do for this year. Our hope is to have at least 3, if not more, meetings IN PERSON this year. There are a few locations we are considering, so time will tell on if we’re able to make them work or not. But know that it is something we are working back towards.

Now…on to this month’s meeting. We have a special guest joining us all the way from Australia. Andrew Hicks is the owner of Creative Workflow Solutions, and he is currently developing a couple of plugins that are rather amazing. First is Notion Video. Ever wanted to turn your Notion database into projects, videos, graphics? Notion Videos is a proof of concept that connects Premiere Pro to a Notion database so you can run data driven workflows. Use it to create more and create faster so you can do whatever you feel like. The second thing is Sub Machine. Have you ever been asked to create 'cool', 'trendy' captions like so and so on *insert social media platform here*? Sub Machine allows you to create fully customizable, fun and dynamic subtitles with no design or After Effects experience, all from within Premiere Pro.

Andrew will join us to show how these will work, and to answer your questions. Both of these products are still in development, so he’s curious to hear your thoughts and feedback on how to make them better. You’re getting a sneak peek at some VERY cool tech that will be coming soon.

Also, starting with this meeting, DJ and I will each be doing a short 5 minute or so demo on Premiere and After Effects. It’ll be some tip or trick that will hopefully help you in your editing, something you hopefully didn’t know you could do.

About our Presenter:
Ten years ago, Andrew was a drone pilot that got thrown into editing videos in iMovie. His next challenge was figuring out how to do some tracking in After Effects. That introduced him to the wonderful world of expressions and I was entranced. Scripts and extensions soon followed. Using custom extensions, he helped build an editing house that currently edits over 200 videos every month with about 5 editors. Now he helps video creators all over the world streamline and automate their workflows so that they can focus on the fun stuff: being creative.

When he’s not banging his head against a keyboard in frustration he loves to spend time outdoors with his wife and 2 year old daughter, play cricket, camp, travel and read. And code some more.
