Metis Introduction to Data Science (http://www.thisismetis.com/introduction-to-data-science) course instructors Ramesh Sampath (https://www.linkedin.com/in/sampathweb) and T.J. Bay (https://www.linkedin.com/in/tjbay)will take one dataset and walk you through the steps of Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA), Visualization and Model Creation.

The Meetup is ideal for anyone with a basic understanding of data analysis techniques and an interest in improving their ability to tackle problems involving multi-dimensional data in a systematic, principled way.

Ramesh and T.J. will also answer questions about their 6-week evening course at Metis, which starts on September 6th and will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 - 9:30pm through October 20th.

Ramesh Sampath
Metis Co-Instructor, Intro to Data Science

Ramesh comes to Metis from FiveStars Loyalty where he built data products to help merchants connect with their customers. Prior to that, he was an Insight Data Engineering fellow where he worked on big data applications. Previously, he co-founded Engineeroom360, where he built machine learning models to identify products trending in an online store and automatically move them based on its relevance to the consumer. Ramesh spends his spare time playing with his two sons and tinkering with Arudino / RaspberryPi.

T.J. Bay
Metis Co-Instructor, Intro to Data Science

T.J. is a data scientist at Alpine Data, where he has worked on projects in finance, healthcare, manufacturing, and government. Prior to leaving academia, he taught astronomy and received a Ph.D. in physics from Stanford, where he worked on experiments to measure deviations in the strength of short-distance gravity and a novel photon detector based on superconductors. He is nearing the end of very long project that involves whiskey and rewatching every episode of Star Trek - even the animated ones.
