Title of Talk:
How Apache Flink Democratizes Streaming Data Processing

Abstract:
Confluent’s Apache Flink offerings bring real-time data processing power to everyone who understands SQL. With Flink, you don't need to be a stream processing expert to create rich data products from your streaming data. This talk introduces the current capabilities of Confluent Flink, showing how accessible and practical streaming analytics have become for data scientists, engineers, and technical managers. Discover how Flink SQL unlocks powerful features like stateful operations, time-based triggers, and process table functions, as well as a deep dive into the advanced but easy-to-use machine learning UDFs for anomaly detection and forecasting. No deep Flink expertise required: just a working knowledge of SQL and a curiosity for what’s possible!

Bio:
Elijah Meeks is a leading voice in data visualization, with a career spanning both academia and tech. He is currently a Principal Engineer at Confluent, where he focuses on data visualization for real-time streaming data. Previously, he co-founded Noteable, a startup dedicated to advancing data analysis and communication, and was the founding Executive Director of the Data Visualization Society. His experience also includes pioneering data visualization applications at Netflix and Apple, including the development of the charting library Semiotic.

Before his time in tech, he worked in the digital humanities at Stanford University, where he served as the technical lead for major projects like ORBIS: The Stanford Geospatial Network Model of the Roman World. He is also the author of D3.js in Action, now in its third edition. His broad background allows him to speak with deep expertise on the evolution of data visualization, from its foundational principles to its most current applications in industry.

Turbo-Charging Autodesk Data Models with Apache Flink and Kafka Streaming Technologies

Abstract:
Discover how Autodesk unlocks use cases with design data using cutting-edge real-time streaming platforms to delight our customers. Gain insights from key lessons learned while developing the Change Data and Eventing Platform systems, which serve as the foundation for critical features like search and secondary indexes.

Bios:
Amar is a software architect at Autodesk, contributing to the Eventing Platform for product data. He is passionate about leveraging technologies that deliver exponential value to service architectures—focusing on reliability, consistency, and availability to create exceptional customer experiences. Amar brings extensive experience in streaming architectures across healthcare and payments domains, alongside a proven track record in building highly scalable applications and solving challenges in complex graph navigation.

Sagar is a principal engineer at Autodesk. In this role, he is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-quality outcomes for real-time processing of Autodesk Data Models data using Apache Flink and Kafka-powered systems on AWS. He is passionate about using technology to elevate customer experiences at scale and collaborates with engineers on architecture, design principles, and coding best practices.
