Welcome to Bougainvillea- ville

Details
The spring flowers are still blooming and the summer flora is on its way. Now is the perfect time to seek them out. Apparently, bougainvillea, hydrangea, lavender, native plants, lilacs, and succulents love this weather, because this corner of the city, known for its beautiful and magnificent homes, is blooming. Let's take an after-work stroll and visit some of our local beauties.
We will meet at the Pedestrian entrance of the CHESTNUT STREET GATE (Chestnut at Lyon) and BEGIN WALKING at 6:00. We'll start by visiting the ducks at the Letterman Pond, then of course head over to give our regards to Yoda. We'll visit some of the Presidio residential areas before heading up to the top and the Lyon Streets Stairs. Then we'll zig and zag and double back a few times along Broadway, Vallejo, Green, Union, Filbert, and Greenwich Streets. This is where the area really shines with its spring flowers. We'll head back to our starting point along Lyon. The walk should take about 2 hours. There won't be a restroom stop along the route. There's a bit of uphill in the middle, as we make our way towards the Lyon Street Stairs
GETTING THERE: Chestnut is one block north of Lombard. You can find Park-and-pay inside the Presidio, although this time of day you may be able to find free parking along Lyon or in the surrounding neigbourhood. The #43 (Masonic) Muni Bus goes the Presidio and has a stop at Lyon. The #45 (Union) ends its run at Lyon and Greenwich- about 2 blocks away. The #30 (Stockton) has a stop at Richardson (although you may have to go back to Chestnut for the return). The Presidigo Downtown Shuttle stops at the Lombard Gate until 7:00 PM.
DOGS- Are always welcome on my walks. Presidio rules require they be on leash. Much of the walk is along city streets and pavement.
ATTENDANCE: We expect everyone to honor their RSVP. If you have a change of plans, you must update your RSVP to let us know. We keep track of no-shows, chronic cancellers, and placeholders, and may remove people with attendance issues. This walk is only open to City Step members.
WHAT TO BRING:
Dress for the weather, Evenings have been chilly lately.
Water and a snack you can eat while walking.
Camera
Really high winds will cancel this walk. I will keep an eye on the forecast, and if we have to cancel I will make the decision by noon and send out an email.
You are responsible for your own safety on all City Steps walks. your "yes" RSVP indicates you have read and understand the liability waiver found at the bottom of every Meetup page.
First person who asks me "what kind of tree (or flower) is that?" has to buy drinks for everyone. I really don't know much about plants and am the worst one to ask.
