Our traditional final walk of the year is in the magnificent neighborhoods of Pacific Heights and Presidio Heights which are especially lovely when they're all lit up for the holidays. A stroll among large Victorian homes and wide, tree-lined streets remind us of the glory years in turn-of-the-century San Francisco.

We'll meet on Steiner Street at California- outside of the Loop Market parking lot. WE START WALKING AT 5:00 PM. Please arrive in time to check-in before we leave. Both Loop and Mollie Stone's have restrooms for their customers.

We'll take a mostly leisurely stroll through two of San Francisco's beautiful neighborhoods and enjoy the array of seasonal decor as we walk along. We'll pass Alta Plaza park, see some impressive mansions, and come upon some breath-taking views. I know most people will still have their holiday lights and decorations up.

We'll start our walk on California, head over over Fillmore and back to city and bay views. We follow Washington Street past the converted firehouse and into Presidio Heights to Arguello. We'll return via Jackson to Presidio, then zig and zag around Pacific before heading back to the bright and festive commercial section and back to our starting point.

This is an easy to moderate walk. There are several up and down stairways, and one good hill leading up to Pacific, but the rest of the walk is pretty flat. The walk should take about 2 hours. We'll be walking through residential neighborhoods, so I don't know that we'll have a chance for a restroom break.

GETTING THERE:

Public Transportation: California and Steiner is accessible by several bus lines. Muni bus #1 (California) has a stop at Steiner and Californa/Sacramento. Line #22 (Fillmore) stops 2 blocks away at Sacramento and Fillmore. The #24 (Divisadero) is 3 blocks away at California and Divis.

Parking: The Cal-Steiner metered parking lot is directly across the street from our starting and ending point. Do not park in the Mollie Stone's lot- you will be towed. Street parking can be difficult, but less so if you stay away from the Fillmore corridor.

ATTENDANCE-We know everyone has emergencies. But consistent, inconsiderate use of RSVPs -- which includes being a "no show", cancelling in the last 24 hours, or frequently cancelling RSVPs -- will lead to being removed from the group. This walk is only available to City Steps Members.

Dogs are always welcome on my walks. All of this walk is on city streets and pavement, so they'll have to be good leash walkers.

You are responsible for your own safety on all City Steps walks. Your yes RSVP confirms that you have read and agree to the Liability Policy found at the botom of every Meetup.com page.
