HEADS UP- I will probably be bringing a dog on this walk.

Russian Hills has plenty to explore, including small parks, hidden paths, and charming stairways. So many stairways! On this walk we'll find as many as we can, and hopefully see some great views as well.

We meet at Helen Wills Playground (restrooms) at the corner of Broadway and Larkin. We Start Walking at 5:30 PM On The Dot!
Please plan accordingly. The walk should last just under 2 hours, We walk in a loop, so we end back at the playground. We'll walk over the Broadway Tunnel and hit some of Russian Hill's highlight. There are several up or down stairways, and a couple of steep streets on this walk. But te city is in bloom, and we should have several opportunities to stop and smell the roses along the way.

HOW TO GET THERE:
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: Helen Wills Playground is a small corner park one block from Polk and two from Van Ness, Plublic transportation is your best bet. Busses #19 (Polk), #49 (Van Ness), ##27 (Bryant), and 12 (Folsom/Pacific) each stop within a couple of blocks. The #1 (California), and #45 (Union) are a few blocks further. BART users have multiple options- From the South Bay, exit at Civic Center and transfer to the #19 or #49. Froom The East Bay, exit either Civic Center (to #19), or Embarcadero and transfer to the #12 or #1 (or take the California Cable Car if you happen to have a Fast Pass).
DRIVING- Parking is tough in the area, You might be tempted to park in the Walgreen's lot at Broadway and Polk, but don't do it- They will tow! In a pinch, there's a garage at Jackson and Polk and a few near Clay Street.

DOGS- Are always welcome on my walks. My client Aspyn may be joining us for this one. They must remain on leash at all times and be well-socialized.

WHAT TO BRING-
Dress for the weather. It's been chilly in the evening. We got lucky with the wind this week- but will our luck hold out?
Wear sturdy shoes.
Water. If you get peckish, bring something you can eat while walking, as we won't be stopping for a snack break.
Your camera- we love seeing your pictures!
Your sense of adventure, camaraderie, and fun!

Please honor our RSVP policy and only sign up if you're fairly certain you can attend. We understand that plans can change, but late cancels, "place holding," and no shows can lead to removal from the group. Please remember to update your RSVP if you are unable to attend. Be sure your Meetup settings allow you to get notified of changes. THIS WALK IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO CURRENT CITY STEPS MEMBERS.

Your "Yes" RSVP indicates that you have read and agree to Meetup's liability policy which can be found at the bottom of every Meetup.com page.

Rain (none forecast) or very heavy winds will cancel this walk. If we need to cancel for weather, I will make that call by 12 noon on Tuesday, then both Meetup and I will send an email letting you know.
