Rumor (rumour) has it that Tuesday will be clear and warm with very little wind. Should we believe it? Should we risk it? Let's jump into it after the long holiday by taking a walk at the water's edge to the Golden Gate Bridge and back.

We meet the picnic tables in front of the restroom at the Crissy Field Parking Lot (East Beach) WE BEGIN WALKING AT 5:30 ON THE DOT. Please arrive a few minutes early to check in and use the restrooms.

We begin by walking down to Crissy Field and following the pedestrian road to The Warming Hut, where we'll catch our breath for a moment and enjoy the views. Then it's up a series of stairways/trails to the bridge, which should be glistening in the late afternoon sun. We'll spend a few minutes at the bridge, allowing everyone to explore it on their own (also- restrooms). We follow The Presidio trails back- a bit of downhill, some flat, and one good set of uphill stairs- before returning to Crissy Field. This walk should take under 2 1/2 hours, depending on how long we linger at the bridge.

GETTING THERE:
DRIVING: The East Beach Parking lot is at the end of Marina Boulevard, just past where it intersects with Yacht Road. Parking is free, but things will be emptying out when we return, so be super careful about leaving nothing in your car.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION;
The # 30 (Stockton) bus takes you directly to Crissy Field, but the last part of the line ends at 8:00 PM, and you may have to walk to Divisadero and Chestnut to catch it home, Another option is to take the Downtown or Around The Park Presidigo Shuttle to Tunnel Tops and walk down from there. Each ends at the Transit Center. https://presidio.gov/visit/getting-to-and-around-the-park/presidio-go-shuttle
Note that the last shuttle runs at 7:00PM so you won't be able to take it back.
MUNI route#43 (Masonic) also stops at the Transit Center and Line #28 (19th Avenue) stop at Richardson/Francisco- it's about a 10 minute walk to our starting point.

ATTENDANCE- We ask that everyone respect our RSVP policy and only sign up if you are certain you can go. We realize that plans can change, but please update your RSVP. No-showing and place holding can cause you to be removed from the group. Crashers (showing up with an RSVP- even if others have canceled) will be turned away. This walk is only open to current City Steps members.

DOGS- We're not going onto the bridge, so friendly, well-behaved dogs are able to join us on this walk. They must be on-leash at all times, but if you want to pop over to Crissy Field Beach and let them run for a few minutes and catch up with us at the Warming Hut, we'll understand.

WHAT TO BRING:
I know the forecast says clear, but I'm still going to bring a jacket.
Bring plenty of water. You can refill at the bridge.
If you're peckish and want a snack, bring one you can eat while walking.
Camera for those beauty shots.
Your sense of camaraderie, adventure, and fun.

AFTER THE WALK-
Sunset is at 7:30, so we should see some wonderful color on our way back. If it really is a nice night, you might want to plan to stay and watch the sunset over the bridge from either Crissy Field or Tunnel Tops. Bring a picnic and a blanket and enjoy the rare balmy evening.

SAFETY-
You are responsible for your own safety on all San Francisco City Steps walks. Your "yes" RSVP indicates that you have read and agree to the policy and waiver that appears at the bottom of every Meetup.com page.

JUST IN CASE- We'll walk no matter the weather, but if they've lied to us and it's really blustery and foggy, we'll take a different walk through the Presidio instead.
