What we’re about
San Francisco Community Nights is a personal project I’ve been dreaming of for years, and I am finally not waiting for it to be “perfect” before I “do it” because I’ve tamed the perfectionist part of me and only called upon him when he is needed.
San Francisco Community Nights are community-driven events that are self-organized by the community members themselves.
The city has changed a lot since the pandemic; so many communities have vanished, and I keep hearing from every person I meet about their desire for connection, friendship, and a sense of community.
My intention is to cultivate a local bay-area community and co-organize those events with every single one of you; my role would be to take care of logistics and be in service and support bringing your craft to the community. Everyone has something to offer, no matter what.
Those events are free; this is not business or an income-generating project but a community service. We all chip in to cover rent and support for the facilitator.
I have so many ideas about what this could be and much more to talk about, but this is not what this email is about. Let’s talk in person, and I will share more, and I want to hear from you too!

May Movie: Speaking Grief
Speaking Grief explores the transformative experience of losing a family member in a death- and grief-avoidant society. This national public media initiative includes a one-hour television documentary, media-rich website, social media campaign, and numerous community engagement events, all aimed at starting a national conversation about grief.
Moving away from the idea that grief is a problem that needs to be “fixed,” Speaking Grief validates the experience of grievers and guides those wishing to support them. There is no “right” way to grieve. By sharing diverse representations of bereavement, Speaking Grief illustrates that grief is a universal, yet individual experience.

Movies are fantastic mediums for conveying ideas, thanks to the mix of visuals, music, and curated words. A movie is a limited-time experience in which we can all share the same version of reality and relate to it in our own unique ways.
Also, watching a movie with a community as a social activity is a dying art. We go to the cinemas surrounded by other people, and we never talk to them about what's happening on the big screen.
I facilitate those movie nights as a social experiment. In a decentralized, interactive way, at any point in the movie, you can raise your hand, share an insight or thought, and have the community reflect on you. - Between Movement & Stillness with MichaelHeartlab, San Francisco, CA

This gathering is an invitation to journey through the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual realms. We will begin with mindful movement—a dynamic blend of yoga and animal flow—to awaken the physical body and ground our awareness. From there, we move into voice activation inspired by the Hawaiian Huna tradition, opening pathways of expression, energy, and awakening our inner power. A short, seated guided visualization will lead us into silent meditation, cultivating inner stillness and clarity. We will close with a sound healing session, supporting deep alignment and fostering a state of ease, focus, and relaxation. What to Bring

- Yoga mat. (Optional if you want a bit more cushion between your knees and the carpet)
