Environmental Friendly hiking group, using public transportation and carpooling to hiking trails throughout Marin and San Francisco counties. I have been a co-organizer through the meetup Bay area short hikes 5-8 miles for 2.5 years. I will be leading hikes with more miles and less speed. I want my hikers to enjoy their hikes, get a good workout, takes some photos and experience the beauty around them. So bring your smiles and let's hike some miles. See you on the next hike \
Drivers, we will meet you at the trail head, \
We will meet in the City and take bus or ferry to various trail heads in Marin Headlands, Mt Tam, and Pt Reyes Seashore. From there we start our hike.

We will be doing a strenuous urban hike in San Francisco that involves ascending 2,000 feet via numerous staircases (about 18 ascending staircases totaling around 2,020 steps) and steep paths over the 8.5 mile route. This hike is for INTERMEDIATE HIKERS ONLY. The trek will wind up and over six hills offering breathtaking views of San Francisco: Mount Olympus, Kite Hill, Twin Peaks, Mount Sutro, Golden Gates Heights and Grand View.
THIS EVENT HAS A WAITLIST. DO NOT SHOW UP FOR IT UNLESS YOU HAVE RECEIVED AN EMAIL SAYING YOU'RE APPROVED AND CAN ATTEND. NO PLUS ONES ARE PERMITTED.
We will meet at 10:00 am at Frederick St & Willard St (at the entrance to Kezar Stadium, near the southeast corner of Golden Gate Park) and depart at 10:15 am sharp. We start by heading southeast to go up Mount Olympus via the Monument Way steps, followed by traversing Kite Hill via Clover Lane. Next we head southwest to ascend the Twin Peaks (915’) via the Iron Alley steps and Pemberton steps. Continuing southwest we will stop by Midtown Terrace Park for a 30 minute food/restroom break before ascending Mount Sutro (912’) by way of the Ashwood Lane Steps. We then head south to Golden Gate Heights via the Aerial Way steps before heading north to traverse Grand View Park via the Moraga Steps/Encinal Walk.
At the end of the hike we will pass through the Inner Sunset (8th Avenue and Irving Street) where we will gather at some location for post-hike beverages. From there, it's a 10 minute walk east on Lincoln Way to get back to the starting point of the hike on Frederick St. Alternatively, you can catch a bus near 8th Avenue & Lincoln Way.
Bring plenty of water (1 liter at least), snacks and/or lunch if you plan to eat at Midtown Terrace Park.

Level: Strenuous. Intermediate level. You will be expected to hike an average of 2.5 to 3.0 miles per hour. If you have issues with inclines and elevation then this is not a good hike for you.
Total Distance: 8.5 mile loop (10 minute walk from end back to starting point)
Elevation Gain: 2,000 feet (includes ascending 2,020 steps).
Hiking Time: 4 hours
Restrooms: At Kezar Stadium (mile 0.0), Midtown Terrace Playground (mile 4.5), JP Murphy Playground (mile 6.3) and a drinking establishment near 8th Ave and Irving Street (mile 8.5).Directions
The N Light Rail and 7 Bus stop both stop within a block or two from the meeting and ending spots. It is a 10 minute walk east on Lincoln way to get back to the starting point of the hike on Frederick St.Parking
