Ferry Building to Fillmore St Hike & Jazz Fest - 5 miles, 950 ft elev

We will be doing a point to point urban hike in San Francisco from the Ferry Building to Fillmore Street, where the Jazz music festival is taking place. This hike is for INTERMEDIATE HIKERS only. The 5.0 mile route will offer magnificent views of the city we wind up and over several challenging hills and staircases, ascending a total of 950 feet. Highlights of the route will include the Filbert Street steps up Telegraph Hill, Vallejo St up to Ina Coolbrith Park, the hidden Macondray Lane, and Lombard Street up to Hyde Street.

We meet at 10:00 am outside the Ferry Building on The Embarcadero and depart promptly at 10:15 am. We begin the trek by heading northwest to go up and over Telegraph Hill (295') via the Filbert Steps. We will pass by Washington Square Park in North Beach before heading west to ascend Russian Hill (318') via the nearly vertical Vallejo Street. At Ina Coolbrith Park we turn north to ascend the famous Lombard Street. Next we head southwest to pass through Lafayette Park for a restroom stop before continuing to Fillmore Street, where you can explore the festival at your own leisure. We will not stop for lunch given it’s a short hike, but there are many food options at the festival.

Directions
The meeting spot is outside the Ferry Building, below the big clock at The Embarcadero.
- From The Embarcadero BART Station: Walk east one block. The 14 Bus and N Bus also stop close by.
- From Fillmore St: Buses may be re-routed due to the music festival. However, typically you could return to the Ferry Building by taking the 1 Bus at California Street or the 38/38R at Geary Street.

Parking
Street parking is available on the Embarcadero. Paid parking at Four Embarcadero Center.
