Ferry Building to Russian Hill and North Beach Hike - 7.1 miles, 950 ft elev

We will be doing a moderately strenuous urban loop hike in San Francisco to/from the Ferry Building, passing through Pioneer Park (Telegraph Hill), Fisherman's Wharf, North Beach, Russian Hill, Yerba Buena and Soma. The trek will involve ascending 950 feet (including steep hills and stairs) over the 7.1 mile route. At the end of the hike anyone interested is welcome to come for drinks and food at a location near the Ferry Building (most likely, Irish Times Bar).
THIS EVENT HAS A WAITLIST. DO NOT SHOW UP FOR IT UNLESS YOU HAVE RECEIVED AN EMAIL SAYING YOU CAN ATTEND. NO CRASHERS AND NO PLUS ONES ARE PERMITTED.
We meet at 10:00 am outside the Ferry Building on The Embarcadero and depart promptly at 10:15 am. We kick off the trek by heading northwest, ascending Telegraph Hill (295') via the scenic Filbert Steps. From the top we continue northwest to Jefferson Street, passing through the historic Fisherman’s Wharf. We will turn south at Aquatic Park to climb Russian Hill along Larkin Street. Our journey then turns east at Greenwich Street, leading us to Washington Square Park in North Beach where we’ll pause for lunch and a restroom break. Feel free to grab pizza or pastries at one of the nearby shops and restaurants. Next, we continue up Russian Hill (318') to reach Ina Coolbrith Park for spectacular views. We then navigate onto Masonic Street to Union Square Park before visiting Yerba Buena Park and Salesforce Park. Finally, we loop back to conclude our adventure at the Ferry Building.
Bring lunch, snacks and water and dress for the weather.

Level: Moderately strenuous. Intermediate level. You will be expected to hike an average of 2.5 to 3.0 miles per hour.

Hiking Time: 3.5 hours (plus stops).
Pets: Dogs and cats are welcome to come along.
Restrooms: At Ferry Building (mile 0.0) and Washington Square Park (mile 3.8).
Directions
The meeting spot is in front of the Ferry Building on The Embarcadero, below the clock tower..
- From The Embarcadero BART Station: Walk east one block. The 14 Bus and N Bus also stop close by.
Parking
Street parking is available on the Embarcadero. Paid parking at Four Embarcadero Center.
