Presidio to GG Bridge and Sausalito Hike - 7.8 miles, 700 ft elev

We will be doing an intermediate level point to point hike from Mountain Lake Park in the Presidio across the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito. The trek will involve ascending 700 feet over 7.8 miles. The planned route offers many unique views of the Presidio, the Pacific coastline, the San Francisco Bay, Point Cavallo, and the town of Sausalito.

THIS EVENT HAS A WAITLIST. DO NOT SHOW UP FOR IT UNLESS YOU HAVE RECEIVED AN EMAIL SAYING YOU CAN ATTEND. NO CRASHERS AND NO PLUS ONES.

We meet at 10:00am in Mountain Lake Park Playground (at 12th Avenue and Lake Street) and depart promptly at 10:15am. We begin the trek by heading north through the Presidio on the Park Boulevard Trail and the Park Trail. At mile 1.6 we connect onto the Presidio Promenade, leading us to the Golden Gate Bridge. After crossing the bridge we will take a break at the Visitor Center for lunch and the restroom (mile 4.2). Afterwards, we will continue toward Horseshoe Bay where we connect with East Road and the Bridgeway leading us into the Sausalito town center where we will end the hike. Feel free to get ice cream or snacks before heading back to San Francisco by bus or ferry.

Bring water, snacks and/or lunch. Dress for the weather. Sometimes wearing earbuds is helpful to reduce traffic noise on the Golden Gate Bridge.

Directions
The meeting spot is at the Mountain Lake Park Playground (by the restroom) at 12th Avenue and Lake Street.

• To Mountain Lake Playground: The 38/38R Bus stops three blocks south on Geary Blvd, and the 1 Bus stops one block south on California St.
• From Sausalito: Take the 3:10 pm ferry to the Ferry Building (30 minute trip) or take either the Golden Gate Transit #130 or #150 bus into San Francisco. These buses leave about every hour (typically at 9 and 43 minutes past the hour). To return to the starting point switch to the Muni #28 bus at the Golden Gate Bridge Welcome Center and go 2 stops to Park Presidio Blvd and California St (about a 40 minute total trip time).
