In Person Only: 2929 24th Street, San Francsico

Experience an evening of Hindustani classical vocal music carried forward from one of India's most revered lineages - that of Pt. Basavaraj Rajguru, through the living tradition of Pt. Parameshwar Hegde. Shreyas brings this rich inheritance to the stage, where the Kirana gharana's meditative depth meets the bold melodic structures of Gwalior Gharana and the rhythmic vitality of Patiala Gharana.

At the heart of this tradition lies a deep reverence for the raga - its mood, its rules, its identity. Shreyas's singing reflects this commitment through delicate ornamentation that unveils each raga's character note by note, expanding across three octaves from stillness into powerful bursts of taans. Every phrase is guided by the discipline of the tradition and the spontaneity of the moment, making each performance a conversation between the ancient and the immediate.

Whether you are a seasoned listener of Indian classical music or encountering it for the first time, this intimate concert is an invitation to sit with the raga, feel its mood take shape, and witness a centuries-old tradition speaking through a new voice.

Shreyas Ravindra has over 14 years of devoted training - first under Pt. Ananth Bhagwath, a disciple of Pt. Parameshwar Hegde, and later under Pt. Parameshwar Hegde himself. His music carries the confluence of the Kirana, Gwalior, and Patiala gharanas. He has had the opportunity to perform at Indian Institute of World Culture, Ravindra Kalakshetra and Kamat Bugle Rock in Bengaluru, along with numerous venues across Karnataka, the southern state of India.

Edrees Osman has been studying tabla for the last 12 years. He currently learns with Sri Sandip Ghosh, a senior disciple of Pt. Anindo Chatterjee and a classical maestro in his own right. Edrees is known for his musical versatility as he plays several different styles of music, from hindustani classical, to semi-classical and light classical styles like thumri and ghazal. His Afghan descent has led him towards the older folk styles of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India, and he has taken it upon himself to increase his fluency in these styles to help preserve them and present them to a broader audience.

Ameya Velingker was initiated into Hindustani classical music from a young age by his father, Shri. Avinash Velingker. He has trained in harmonium since the age of 4 and continues to accompany artists from India and elsewhere, having accompanied stalwarts such as Pt. Parameshwar Hegde, Vidushi Kalpana Zokarkar, and Pt. Bhimrao Panchale, to name a few. He has also received training from Shri. Rohit Mujumdar and is currently undergoing vocal training under the tutelage of Dr. Pravin Gaonkar. Additionally, Ameya has a Ph.D. in computer science from Carnegie Mellon University.
