About us
The Ukulele Rebellion has begun! Join us at our various monthly meetings (and other events).
We are an educational group, seeking to teach beginners and beyond to play the ukulele. Our primary songbooks are The Daily Ukulele (the Yellow Book) and The Daily Ukulele Leap Year Edition (the Blue Book) published by Flea Market Music.
We also play some songs from chord/lyric sheets that can be downloaded (see below).
We ask for a $5 donation per meeting to pay for Meetup.com site maintenance and other expenses.
If you can print out your own copies of the "alternate" songs from the Files section of the group (Under "More" above), that would be fabulous! The songs for each meetup that have been requested (both new and old) are in a file with the meetup's date. The whole book is under "Rebellious Songbook." The Xmas songs are under "Rebellious Xmas Songs."
Thanks, and we hope to see you strumming along with us.

sunnyvalekid1@gmail.comUkes4Peace is a group of Bay Area ukulele clubs (including San Francisco Ukulele Rebellion) committed to the idea that "through music, played together, we can promote peace, harmony, and love and make the world a better place." The idea is that member ukulele clubs will host one or more events in their own geographic area at which members from other affiliated ukulele clubs can join to play songs of protest, hope, peace, and encouragement.
Ukes4Peace is organizing primarily through Facebook as a public Facebook group. If you have a Facebook account and you would like to join the Facebook group, here's the link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1799886787341053

If you don’t have the Yellow, Blue, or Purple Books yet, you can purchase them from Jim Beloff’s website [https://www.fleamarketmusic.com/store/scripts/prodList.asp?idCategory=24].

Please bring your instrument(s), a floor or table music stand, your singing voices, and your fabulous ukulele spirit! We'll play music from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm, with a short intermission.
We'll go around the room so that everyone can pick songs to play. If you pick a song, you will be encouraged (but not required) to lead it. IMPORTANT NOTICE:
I do not disclose the location of our in-person jams on the Meetup website. While the date and time of these in-person meetups will still be posted here, I'll be notifying people of the location of these meetups using an email distribution list. If you'd like to be on this list, please email me at sfukerebellion@yahoo.com from the email address you'd like me to add to the distribution list.COVID UPDATE: Covid and the flu have surged this winter. I think it's safe for us to meet, but I strongly encourage people to observe social distancing and other measures, like masking, that have been shown to inhibit the spread of airborne viruses like Covid and the flu. For the safety of others in the group, please don't attend this meetup if you are not feeling well or if you are experiencing Covid-like or flu-like symptoms. I won't require people to test for Covid, but I strongly encourage you to test for Covid on Saturday afternoon. From what I understand, most of the people I know who have gotten Covid recently got it from someone who didn't even know they had it at the time of exposure. Thank you in advance for your thoughtfulness.

Virtual Ukulele Rebellion #106! Celebrating Oscar-Winning Songs and Neil Sedaka
·OnlineOnlineMarch is Academy Award month, so lets celebrate by playing songs that have WON the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
Here's a link to Wikipedia's Best Original Song page. It lists every song that has been nominated for an Academy Award by year, and it indicates which songs won the award. Please pick songs to lead only from those songs that have WON the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academy_Award_for_Best_Original_SongAlso, singer-songwriter Neil Sedaka died on February 27, so let’s play songs that were written or co-written by him to remember his vast contributions to the world of music and the soundtracks of our lives.
We'll play music from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm Pacific Standard Time.To address some Zoom-bombing at our March and October 2025 Zoom meetups, I will be looking at and implementing additional security procedures for access to Zoom. The Zoom link will appear on this page when you RSVP. If Zoom asks for a passcode, the passcode is Rebellion. The passcode is case-sensitive.
If you'd like to lead a song, please let me know, either by posting here in the comments or by email, which song(s) you would like to lead. The cut-off time for requesting to lead a song is THE TUESDAY BEFORE THE MEETING (for this meeting, Tuesday March 17), even if you're going to be leading a song from one of the Daily Ukulele books or the Groovy Songbook. I'll post a songlist here in advance of our meeting.
IF YOU'D LIKE TO LEAD A SONG USING SHEET MUSIC OR A CHORD CHART THAT ISN'T IN THE YELLOW BOOK, THE BLUE BOOK, OR THE GROOVY SONGBOOK, PLEASE EMAIL THE DOCUMENT TO ME IN DIGITAL FORMAT IN ADVANCE SO THAT I CAN UPLOAD IT TO DROPBOX AND POST IT ON THE SCREEN FOR OTHERS.
PLEASE NOTE: To accommodate all first song requests, we may not have time to get to all second (or third) song requests. When asking to lead more than one song, please indicate your first and second choices to ensure that, if we can't get to your second request, the song you'd most like to lead is included in that evening's song list. Thank you in advance for your willingness to lead songs and your understanding about how the song list for each meeting is prepared.
You can reach me by email at sfukerebellion@yahoo.com
