Whether you're a complete beginner, have played before, or have a championship medal, come join the San Luis Obispo County Friends of Italy for a fun, social gathering to play this classic Italian game!

What is Bocce Ball?
Bocce Ball is a game that dates back to Ancient Rome and is still one of Italy's favorite sports. Played on a long, flat court, the goal is simple: get your team's balls closest to the small target ball, known as the pallino. It’s easy to learn but offers enough strategy and skill to keep things competitive!

Why Play Bocce Ball?
- It's a delightful way to meet new people and socialize!
- A fun way to enjoy the outdoors.
- Wonderful for all ages and fitness levels.
- Helps sharpen coordination and focus while enjoying some friendly competition!

What's Happening at This Meetup:
We’re hosting weekly Wednesday morning bocce ball events at Emerson Park in SLO! If you know this day and time is for you as a routine, register for future Wednesday events to indicate your interest. It will help we organizers!

We'll learn or refresh on the rules, play a few casual games, and enjoy a fun, relaxed time together.

Call to Action:
Don't miss out! Come out, learn to play, play and mentor others, and meet other Italian enthusiasts. Be aware that Emerson Park does NOT have public restrooms. Take care of business before you come to the park.

Join us for a Sunday afternoon of stunning coastal views, delicious food and wine, and Italian-style camaraderie as we explore the breathtaking Point Buchon Trail — one of the most scenic hikes on the Central Coast.

We’ll begin at the picnic tables near the trailhead, stroll along dramatic coastal bluffs with sweeping ocean vistas, and return to enjoy our Italian food and wine picnic together as dusk approaches. 🌅

### 👟 Trail Details

• Distance: ~6.8 miles round trip (shorter turnaround options available)
• Difficulty: Moderate (gentle coastal terrain, some rolling hills)
• Trailhead: Point Buchon Trail, Montaña de Oro State Park.
• Restrooms & picnic tables at trailhead
• Check-in required at the kiosk before starting

### 🕒 When

• Sunday, October 19th
• Meet at 1:15 PM at the parking lot near the picnic tables
• Hike: 3 to 3.5 hours
• Picnic after the hike

It’s easy to get to: drive straight into Montaña de Oro State Park, pass the Bluff Trail parking area, and continue until the road ends. The trailhead parking lot has picnic tables and restrooms.

• A favorite bottle of Italian wine (or a local wine made from Italian varietals)
• An Italian appetizer or dessert to share — think crostini, biscotti, pizzelle, prosciutto-wrapped bites, or olives.
• Plenty of water and layers for cooler temperatures as dusk approaches.
• A chair or blanket if you’d like to relax more comfortably during the picnic.
• Comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, hat, and your beautiful spirit of adventure.
