San Mateo West Coast Swing Dance Meetup

Come and enjoy learning West Coast Swing in downtown San Mateo! This is a popular form of swing dancing that has spread around the world.

One of the greatest things about west coast swing is that the dance is highly personalized. Although it is a ‘lead and follow’ partner dance with the follower traveling up and down the slot, it allows for a vast amount of freedom, expression and individuality.

Beginner West Coast Swing is a class designed for students new to the dance. It will be focused on getting the basic rhythms and foundational patterns (left side pass, underarm turn, and sugar push) of the dance.

West Coast Swing Technique: If you’ve been craving to feel a stronger connection, cleaner footwork, and richer musicality this class is your next step! We’ll break things down, build them up, and take your west coast swing to the next level-let’s dive deep and grow together!
*Pre-requisite: Our WCS Technique class is for Intermediate Level or higher level students. This is the perfect class to improve your fundamentals and build confidence and flow.

Intermediate West Coast Swing is a class designed for students who feel comfortable in their basics, but want to expand their knowledge. This class will focus on lots of basic variations and foundational whip technique and variations. This class will get you comfortable with both 6-count, 8-count patterns, and basic extensions.

Join us on for an exciting night of West Coast Swing with the fabulous Heather! Whether you’re brand new or already love the groove, our fun and welcoming community is the perfect place to dance, connect, and grow.

At Motion Arts Center dance studio, we’re all about creating a positive and supportive environment where everyone can enjoy dancing—no partner or experience needed! Come take a class, then stay to dance the night away at our social party!
