West Coast Swing is a partner dance that originated in California and has gained immense popularity worldwide. What sets it apart is its adaptability and versatility, making it perfect for dancing to a wide variety of music genres, including pop, R&B, blues, and contemporary hits. In our classes, we'll cover the fundamental techniques, footwork patterns, and connection skills that will empower you to confidently navigate the dance floor.

FREE On-Street Parking After 6pm and in all city-owned parking facilities everyday after 6pm and all day Sundays and on city-designated holidays.
Kiku Parking Garage with 526 spaces is located at 400 E. 5th Avenue in San Mateo, parking is Free Mon-Sat after 6pm and all day Sunday (you can park there and walk two blocks to the studio).

At Motion Arts Center dance studio, we’re all about creating a positive and supportive environment where everyone can enjoy dancing—no partner or experience needed! Come take a class, then stay to dance the night away at our social party!
We'll be spinning an awesome mix of tunes to keep you moving all night long on our gorgeous hardwood dance floor, with colorful ambient lighting, A/C comfort, and a top-tier sound system to set the vibe just right.

One of the greatest things about west coast swing is that the dance is highly personalized. Although it is a ‘lead and follow’ partner dance with the follower traveling up and down the slot, it allows for a vast amount of freedom, expression and individuality.EVERY MONDAY:

Beginner West Coast Swing is a class designed for students new to the dance. It will be focused on getting the basic rhythms and foundational patterns (left side pass, underarm turn, and sugar push) of the dance.
Intermediate West Coast Swing is a class designed for students who feel comfortable in their basics, but want to expand their knowledge. This class will focus on lots of basic variations and foundational whip technique and variations. This class will get you comfortable with both 6-count, 8-count patterns, and basic extensions.
