Batiquitos Lagoon

3.5 miles, 100ft ascent, out-and-back. No hazards.
Description: We'll hike along the north shore of Batiquitos Lagoon in Carlsbad. There is a fair amount of shade. The 561 acre lagoon is home to many different wildlife species, including plants, fish and birds. Endangered birds such as the Snowy Plover, California Least Tern and Clapper Rail have been spotted there. Last here 8/25. https://www.meetup.com/sandiegodayhikers/events/310237952/copy/

Meet at 9:30AM at the trailhead at the south end of Gabbiano Lane

Leashed dogs are allowed. Bathroom at visitor center.
Directions: : Going North on I-5 take exit 45 (Poinsettia Lane, Aviara Pkwy). Go east on Poinsettia Lane, turn right on Batiquitos Dr., turn right again on Gabbiano Lane, and follow it to its end.
Tips: Wear good hiking shoes, dress in layers, take a hat, sunscreen, water and a snack.
