About us
Inviting ALL interested wiki users, fans and contributors! We are a growing community of diverse wiki contributors, connecting with each other, with meetups in SoCal and online. WikiSoCal launched in April 2016, with a $750 grant from Wikimedia Foundation, gracious hosting of meetups in the San Diego Libraries, and a few dedicated community organizers. Building on partnerships with San Diego Libraries and Balboa Park, WikiSoCal was able to help launch WikiConference North America in October 2016, here in San Diego with four days of events in Balboa Park and at the magnificent downtown San Diego Library. More than 300 wikipedians from all over the world attended the events, connecting with each other face to face in ways that virtual work can't. We are now organizing more events and would welcome suggestions and additional leadership. If you want to help improve the quality of Wikipedia, WikiHow, other wikis or any open source project, we welcome you to connect and collaborate with others that share your interests and passions.
For new Wikipedians: To get started contributing to Wikipedia, we recommend first clicking on this link to add your name to our group list: Join WikiSoCal tracker (this helps us track how many contributors and contributions WikiSoCal is connected with, and makes it easier to go after funding support).
Then you can have fun learning the basics of contributing to Wikipedia by starting with The Wikipedia Adventure.
Then check out and signup for Wiki Project San Diego to see the status of articles that have been tagged as San Diego related.
For new WikiHowians: To get started on WikiHow, and check out www.wikihow.com and click on the link for WikiHow Help Us.
