What we’re about
Welcome! We are transitioning to the Atlanta Buddhism meditation meetup page here https://www.meetup.com/atlanta-buddhism-events/ and AtlantaBuddhism.org, we invite you find many different mindfulness groups, meditation retreats, and spiritual activities there.
Dear friends,
Thank you so much for your support of Sandy Springs Insight Meditation. As you may know, the co-organizers of the group (Dick, Cherry, Joel, Mark and Veletta) decided to switch to a Zoom-only format last year after our resumed meetings at the church were poorly attended.
Feeling the limits of Zoom and wanting to start attending in-person sangha meetings with other groups such as Dharma Jewel and Roswell Insight Meditation Community, Cherry and Joel have decided to step down as co-organizers of SSIM. Mark and Veletta have significant teaching and organizing responsibilities at RIMC, and it would be very difficult for Dick to run the weekly SSIM meetings without Cherry and Joel.
As a result, we have decided to end the group after nearly 14 years of offering sitting, dharma talks and discussions on Wednesday nights. Last night was our final meeting.
We have shared many meaningful experiences and made strong personal connections with so many of you over the years. We are deeply grateful for your friendship and your willingness to study and practice the precious dharma. We hope to stay connected with you and wish you all the best in life and on the path.
With much metta,
Cherry, Dick, Joel, Mark and Veletta

We all want more well-being and comfort in our life, but the happiness we find is often elusive and disappointing. Buddhist teachings explain that real happiness stems from inside ourselves. By learning how to meditate, we enter the path to true happiness.
Join us for this special event and learn the meaning and practice of meditation from Lama Lobsang Samten, a Tibetan Buddhist monk and spiritual director of the Paramita Centers in Canada, France, and the US. During the conference, Lama Samten will share his deep knowledge of the meaning of meditation and guide you through simple but profound meditation practices that you can immediately apply. Discover how to start a path to inner peace and mindfulness in your daily life.
You don’t have to be Buddhist to benefit from learning about the teachings. Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience, this event is perfect for anyone interested in exploring the benefits of meditation and the deeper meaning of the practice. The conference will take place at Thrive, 130 E Main Street, Canton, Georgia. Mark your calendar and come join us for this transformative event. Open your mind, find your center, and embark on a journey of self-discovery.
