The Great Pinnacles Experience !
NOTE: The address above is for the old listing (Monument) It is now a National park. Check out the exact listing. I'll have directions later. But It is about 35 miles South of Hollister. & East of Salinas. We will probably take 101 to 156 to Hollister. It's a very long drive for me. 3 1/2 hours. I can pick up 3-4 people from the Park & ride location on the East side of the Sycamore Valley Rd. exit off hwy 680 in Danville. Some may wish to take a motel in Hollister . Some can camp at the east side entrance campgrounds. But it fills fast ! So get your resv. asap. What's to see & do ? ** A moderate to a bit strenuous amazing trek of about 7 miles. (It can be a lot longer) if you wish. Or shorter. Go at your own pace with a group that fits. **Remember: It's the journey & not the destination ! But we will hopefully see the Condors, hike some of the caves (bring flashlights) , Go thru tunnels, **see underground waterfalls, climb the rock stairways, rock formations & high rails. See the Dolphin rocks, Unique lichen colors of yellow, red, & brown on the canyon walls, skylights, maybe take a dip in the high lake, watch the rock climbers , take amazing photos, & enjoy the fab views from above at about 3600 ft. Note: The upper caves are closed for the Bat nesting . NOTE: You have to go gradually to take all the beauty in. So don't rush ! Especially if you wish to see the Condors. We should finish about 5:30-6:00 pm. The last bus pickup is then. NOTE: A bus will pick us up next to the camp site office & take us to the hike start location. If it is not over crowded that day we may be able to drive some cars to the small lots near & just past the hike start locations. Then if you want more fun ,we will head to Mission San Juan Batista on the way back for a great dinner & socializing. (This is a really cool hidden town on the way home) . It's right on the San Andreas fault. ****** Bring your lunch. Good hiking shoes. A jacket, bathing suit, sun screen, towel, hat, sun glasses, camera, & an xtra pair of shoes for later. *******I'll have trail maps for you. NOTE: We enter from the EAST side. !!! **I;ll have the Wine, water, juice, tea, latte's, protein & energy drinks, trail bars, Gourmet fruit & nut packs wine country sodas, ,gloves, hats, jackets, hiking poles(They will help) etc. Adventure Donation : $25. Chk or $ upon arrival Or use paypal (use friends & family option only) Or chase.com/zelle with my email. **** NOTE: Please do not RSVP if you are not serious about this outing. NO NO SHOWS !! ******No cell phone service out there. ***PLEASE READ THIS THOROUGHLY!! More info later. So start organizing your car pools. We will meet at the camp ground Hdqs. in the East entrance. By the office & CAMP GROUND parking lot. Think of Peru & Sedona & you will see Pinnacles. NOTE: *** Do not mention your are with a group as they may want a special $$$$ permit, insurance, & other fees. You never know; as this is now a Nat. park. *** The bus at the camp ground office holds about 26 people. It comes by around every 20 min. There will be bathrooms after the bus drops us off if you can't make it to the campground one. **There is a park fee at the entrance. I have a park pass for my car. But if your car is full; you can spread the cost around to about 1.50 p.p. ** If it is a burden; I'll reimburse you for the park entry fee. (No problem) I will try & get my car to our hike start area & I can bring or shuttle people back after the hike. **It could be very crowded as this place is getting very popular. If it is not crowded, you may be able to get your car to the hike start area as it is about a 2-3 mile hike from the campground to the hike start . There is a waterfall on the trail from the campground to hike area. The trail meanders alongside the road. Contact me with any issues or questions. [masked] (Indie Tom) Email me directly at: [masked] This is a top rated adventure trek . You don't have to go to Peru or Sedona either. ****Allow xtra time to get there ! Only Enter from the East entrance ! You will take hwy 25 S. from Hollister about 35 miles to the park Rd.(146) turnoff. The hills will be a bright green. So have your cameras ready after you leave the Hollister area. NOTE: Use a desktop computer to RSVp & print up the page to go with your mobile phone app. (If not, you may miss important info.
