What we’re about
The San Mateo Radio Club has served the Amateur Radio community on the San Francisco peninsula since 1946. The club promotes the exchange of knowledge among members at monthly meetings, serves the local community with emergency communication, and helps newcomers get on the air. Meetings cover a wide range of radio related topics such as DX (long distance communication), digital radio, new technologies, equipment reviews, competitions (contests), emergency protocols, remote region expedition communications (DXpeditions), and much more. The club’s goal is to improve its member’s technical and operating capabilities and to foster fellowship.
Meetings
The San Mateo Radio Club meets the third Friday of the month at 7:15pm on Zoom and at the Congregational Church of San Mateo. Each meeting has a presentation on a topic of interest in amateur radio. There are plenty of opportunities to ask questions and get help with problems.
Membership
Membership is open to anyone with an interest in amateur radio. The annual dues are $25.

- VHF Contesting - SMRC Monthly meeting July 18 In-Person and on ZoomLink visible for attendees
Featuring a presentation by Russ Bentson K6KLY on VHF Contesting. This will be an insightful look from a versed DXer. Russ will talk about another avenue of chasing countries and grid squares on the higher bands. He also offers mentoring in HF and contesting.
The video conferencing session and in-person location opens at 7:00 pm, and the meeting officially starts at 7:15 pm.
Video Conferencing: The Zoom link will show on the event page after you register for this event.
In-person location: Congregational Church of San Mateo, Betsy Woodward Christian Education building, in the Will Bullis Community Room, 2nd Floor. The church is graciously allowing SMRC to use their meeting room free of charge.
The church address is 225 Tilton Ave, San Mateo, CA. However, on Google Maps, use 220 Catalpa St, San Mateo, CA 94401 to navigate to the parking lot from Catalpa Street. Access to the building entrance is from the back of the building -NOT the main entrance from the street.
