Join Us for Grass Volleyball!
We're all about having fun and building community while playing volleyball. Whether you're a seasoned player or just starting out, this is the perfect place to play, learn, and enjoy the game!
Here's how it works:
- We'll start with a half-hour of warm-up drills to help everyone loosen up and get comfortable. We will reserve a court for king of the hill open to experienced players, but if you just want to play, feel free to come later after drills.
-After warmups, we'll form random teams by counting in a circle, giving everyone a chance to mix and play with new people. We'll play two games and then count off again.
For the second game, court 1 plays court 2, court 3 plays court 4, etc. If there is an odd number of total courts, the last three courts should do a three way swap(say Even number teams rotate clockwise).
General Rules:
- We follow indoor rules, but don't worry if you're unfamiliar-they're easy to pick up! Open-hand receives are okay, no blocking or attacking serves, and please avoid going under the net for safety reasons.
-If something is unclear, just replay the point. The focus is on fun, not perfection.
-Teams typically use a simple setup with a middle setter and two hitters upfront, but feel free to adapt and play in a way that suits your team.
Above all, remember: we're here to enjoy the game, meet new people, and have a great time. See you on the court!
King of the hill
----------------------
Restricted to intermediate/advanced players - If you are more at beginner/adv beginner level, you may be asked to go back to standard drills by organizer’s discretion. You must be able to effectively pass, receive serve, set, and hit successfully. On non hard-driven serves/hits a intermediate/advanced player should be able to receive/pass accurately to the setter 75-100% of the time.
Format/rules: Each team will start off 3v3 (or 4x4) and the winner of the point will be “kings” and move to the opposite court/side, losing team will get back in line. The “king” side of the court will stay on the court until losing the point. The objective is try to remain kings as long as possible.” After 5 consecutive points as 'kings', they go off the court and two new teams take the court (they are considered Champions).
We will have 3 (or 4) lines leading to the court that teams will be based on, the center line will be for setter, the other two lines will be hitter/receiver. Players can place themselves by order in each line if they want to be on the same team, otherwise it will be random according to who is in line - so you don't actually need to know anyone to form a team or anything.
*disclaimer - this is a physical activity, there's always risk of injury, please be careful and play at your own risk.
