SANTA FE BLUE STUDIO OFFERS INTRO TO PROCREATE - IPAD PAINT APP

Details
Hello,
I am offering an introductory workshop in Procreate via Zoom beginning April 10th. Later in May I will be offering an Intermediate Course. By completion of the Introductory workshop you will understand how the app works (and others), be able to move around the tools and create your own work. During the ten-day workshop, you will have email access to me to facilitate any project you are working on or ask questions. In the Intermediate workshop we will go further into Layers, Masks, Blend Modes, etc. that will allow you to create more complex images. Advanced workshops will focus on projects and processes that the students want to explore including how to integrate digital and natural media. I will provide a forum first on Facebook and then on a website for discussions, questions and answers, and sharing of works in progress and finished work.
I am hoping to build a community of digital artists who want the adventure of discovering how to integrate digital mediums with their own art practice. I would like to show you how you can use your iPhone and/or iPad to think; to discover via variations how you want to create something. Painting with the iPad is so easy and accessible it becomes that trusty visual journal catching all that musing we do when we are deep into a project. Not to speak of the excitement of leveraging digital media back into your own practice of natural media. Once addicted, you might find yourself working with image transfers, scaling your imagery large or small, or drawing on digital paintings with oil, pastel, cold wax, ink, etc. Digital media also allows you to work back and forth between 3Dimensional and 2Dimensional imagery very easily.
For me, in my art practice, it is curiosity, invention, working with different materials, which gets me hooked. Many people have a cliché view of digital media. They might think it would feel so removed or that clicking a tool couldn’t be satisfying. Or they feel like it will only remain on a screen and they would miss terribly the organic accessibility of paper for example, or the smells of oil and pastel. But I am not talking about losing all that but gaining an intimate magical pad to draw on that keeps refreshing. Adding to all that you do now in your practice, the iPad can teach you how you think by giving you this refreshable, non-fail, intimate, tool-rich pad where it is easier to compare versions that document your line of thought.
I hope you might join us.
Thanks,
Barbara
