Franklin Trail, Super Easy 20 Mile 6200’ Climb, Night Descent, A Mundane Hike

Details
The Franklin Trail in Carpinteria, ascends 4000’ in about 8 miles to the mountain top ridge line, then descends down to Santa Ynez River and Lake Jameson in the back country, passing by Alder Creek Camp.
In January this year, after a 5.8 mile walk with a group at Carpinteria Bluff, I solo hiked the Franklin Trail to the mountain top for sun setting, and descended in the dark with headlight. I have been wanting to hike the entire 20 mile stretch, curious to see and explore Santa Ynez River, Lake Jameson, and the back country.
This hike is only for those that can handle the physical & mental demand, and have effective outdoor survival skills. Equipped and prepared to descend the trail and back to civilization late at night with headlight.
This is most likely a once in a lifetime adventure for me. Something I want to do once and don’t plan to be back there again. There are just too many other beautiful wilderness to explore on this amazing living planet. For those who choose to join, I think this is also a once in a lifetime adventure opportunity.
Adding a 50lb backpack, this hike is also a great conditioning hike for other more challenging places such as Mt Whitney, Tahoe Rim Trail, JMT, PCT, and K2.
