Scenic Flores Peak + Gibraltar Rock, via Rattlesnake Canyon Trail & Creek
Details
This hike is set up to coincide with another larger group of about 15 people, lead by Ella/ SB County Hikers. We will move at the pace of the overall group of varied skill levels and speed.
It is also set up to coincide with Santa Barbara Trails Council's 5 Peaks Challenge. More information:

Flores Peak, at 3340’ above sea level, is a beautiful hilltop with great views of the cities and ocean below. And quite often there are para-gliders circling above the sky and over the horizon. This is also one of Santa Barbara's most exciting places for hiking and exploring. There is rocky terrain and scrambling involved. You should get a great workout in beautiful nature.
We will start the hike from Rattlesnake Canyon Trailhead, hiking on trail to Gibraltar Rd to get to Flores Peak and Gibraltar Rock.
On the return, for the last 1 mile, we will venture into very scenic Rattlesnake Canyon Creek. The creek traverse is done by exciting boulder hopping or wading, depending on skills and preference.
This hike is a good testing ground for those that may be interested to join other more adventurous and challenging hikes to Matilija Wilderness and Santa Paula Canyon Creek.
