Scenic Flores Peak + Gibraltar Rock, via Rattlesnake Canyon Creek & Trail
Details
Note: to minimize spamming the general memberships of Santa Barbara Adventure People, most events organized by me would not be announced. If my exploring adventures align with your interest, you will have to proactively check the site. My events may also show up on search & recommendation algorithms.
This hike & explore is an exception and would be announced.
Flores Peak, at 3340’ above sea level, is a beautiful hilltop with great views of the cities and ocean below. And quite often there are para-gliders circling above the sky and over the horizon. This is also one of Santa Barbara's most exciting places for hiking and exploring. There is rocky terrain and scrambling involved. You should get a great workout in beautiful nature.
We will start the hike from Rattlesnake Canyon Trailhead, hiking and exploring through the creek for about a mile, then connect to the regular trail and Gibraltar Rd to get to Flores Peak and Gibraltar Rock. Rattlesnake Canyon Creek should be flowing beautifully after the recent rains. The creek traverse is done by exciting boulder hopping or wading, depending on skills and preference.
