"MONDAY NIGHT BRISK" 7 Mile Loop -Griffith Park Lot 2 to Mount Hollywood

This is a three hour hike at a "brisk" pace
Time - Meet at 6:30 p.m., leave at 6:40 p.m.
Distance - 7.0 miles
Elevation gain - approx 1500 ft.
Difficulty - INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED. No beginners! Please be prepared for a fast paced hike with minimal stops. Please no recent injuries! This hike is intended as a decent workout as well as enjoyment of the scenery. A mixture of fire roads and single track trails up, all fire roads down. There is one very steep trail at the final ascent to Mount Hollywood with a length of .2 miles.
Starting at Parking Lot 2, we take the Fern Canyon Trail to 5 points, then ascend to the Helipad. From there we turn left down the Riverside Trail to the Greek Theater, turning right past the bird sanctuary to Mt. Hollywood. After a brief stop there enjoying the city panorama and snapping a group photo, we return to lot 2 via the North and Bill Eckert trails.
Suggested to bring
- Headlamp - bring white light if you need, but please dim it and don't point it in anyone's eyes.
- Good shoes, trail runners may be best for this one.
- Plenty of water
