SANDSTONE PEAK-6 MILES 🌲/ NEPTUNES NET🦈/ POSSIBLY BEACH SUNSET🌞

SANDSTONE PEAK is the HIGHEST point in the Santa Monica Mountains at 3,111 feet with GORGEOUS VIEWS of the Ocean and Channel Islands. Kinda steep in places, but we'll be taking it a relaxed pace. Mishe Mokwa trail to Split Rock for a break/snacks/group shot, Backbone Trail to the peak and back. The LOOP is sightly more than 6 miles.
We usually have a 20 minute grace period. We will definitely leave no later than noon.
NOTE: I HAVE POSTED A MAP OF THE COMPLETE ROUTE IN THE PHOTOS SECTION.
- DISTANCE: 6+ miles
- GAIN: 1300 feet
- DIFFICULTY: Moderate
- MEETING LOCATION: Meet at the Picnic Bench next to the trailhead
- FREE PARKING: Parking in the lot and on the Road. If on the road, park inside the white line. There is also a small overflow parking area near the main lot to the north on the right.
NOTE: THE LOT FILLS UP QUICKLY. GET THERE EARLY - Restrooms: Clean restrooms, no sink.
- DOGS: DOGS ON LEASH OKAY!
- WHAT TO BRING: BRING 3 LITERS OF WATER, A HAT, SUNSCREEN, COMFORTABLE SHOES, SNACKS, MAYBE POLES, CAMERA THINGY IN YOUR PHONE THINGY.

DIRECTIONS - Interactive MAP to the hike: from Santa Monica
- From the corner of PCH and Yerba Buena... it's 5.25 miles to the Ranger Station at Circle X Ranch... then an additional 1 mile to the parking lot on the LEFT.
DIRECTIONS FROM THE NORTH!!!
- If coming from the North via 101 and using Westlake Blvd heading South!!
- Westlake merges into Mullholland at mile 7, make that right and make sure you stay on Mullholland WEST for a half mile until you reach the intersection with LITTLE SYCAMORE CANYON RD. Make a right here onto Little Sycamore.
- Little Sycamore becomes Yerba Buena Road.
- The trailhead is clearly marked and is 4.6 miles from the turn off of Mullholand. It is at Ventura County Mile Marker 6.37
