Details
Brown Mountain Dam Waterfall. Although it's roughly 8 miles, the hike is relatively easy with little elevation gain. There will be some shallow stream crossings, shaded woods, sometimes a deer and of course, a lovely dam waterfall. 😀
- TIMING: Roughly 4.5 hours roundtrip for the hike including breaks. We generally head out 20 minutes after the official start time. Dinner following is optional and not included in the official time.
- DISTANCE: ~8 miles. Mostly flat
- ELEVATION: 672 ft
- MEETING LOCATION: Meet in parking lot. Look for the BIG group of people.
- PARKING: Free Parking in the lot, no permit required.
- RESTROOMS: No restrooms other than a primitive restroom 2 miles in along the route (BYO-TP!) (So at mile 2 and mile 6).
- DOGS: Friendly dogs on leash ok.
- CELL RECEPTION: There is limited cell reception. If you try to reach out on the app near the start time we may not be able to respond.
- WHAT TO BRING: BRING 3 LITERS OF WATER, A HAT, SUNSCREEN, COMFORTABLE SHOES, SNACKS, ELECTROLYTES, WATER SHOES (optional). You may want to bring a change of shoes and socks for the car in case your feet get wet.
