Bid a fond farewell to summer with your hiking buddies! Celebrate the Harvest Moon and welcome the new season.

-Distance is 6 miles round trip.
-Elevation gain 1150 feet.
-Medium pace and medium difficulty.

Meet at the staircase on the north end of Merry-Go-Round parking lot-2. (Map pin leads to this spot) We will leave at 4:20 sharp, taking the path by the old Zoo. It will take a little over an hour to get to the peak. By 5:30 PM, the moon will already be sitying at a highly visible vantage point in the eastern sky. As the sun drops toward the western ridge you can turn your attention to watch a vibrant sunset illuminate the Hollywood Sign. As the city lights activate below you, the 70% lit bright gibbous moon will slowly solidify in the sky during the golden hour, on this beautiful autumn solstice marking the last Sunday of the Summer! We will hang out at Mount Hollywood taking in the fabulous view of the city and the sunset over the Hollywood sign enjoying conversations, and snacks and taking photos with our hiking friends. As the sun drops below the western ridge around 6:50 PM, we will mosey back down the same way we came up. We will be back to the parking lot by about 7:40PM.
