Rainbow Springs Tubing Sunday afternoon!
Details
Come join us for a day of wet and wild fun at Rainbow Springs near Dunnellon, FL!
This is a tube float trip originating at the Rainbow Springs tube entrance. We will leave the Sarasota area at 8AM and arrive around 10:30 am. We will park and take a short five/ten minute tram ride to the launch site. Then we will launch our tubes and float down river for approximately 2 hours. After our cool float in 72 degree water we will drive 10 minutes to picnic at the trailhead swimming area.
PLEASE READ ALL DETAILS AS WE ARE ENTERING A STATE PARK WITH LOTS OF RULES!!!
Car pooling will be arranged based on interest or you can drive yourself. If you drive independently you can leave anytime you would like. Those of you that choose to carpool will need to decide on return time home. The swimming area has picnic tables and short trails to view the waterfalls in the area.
Entrance fee for the state park is $26 per person and you will be required to pay in EXACT CASH directly to the state part upon our arrival. Your fee includes tube rental for one trip down river and access to the trailhead area for lunch. Carpool drivers are responsible for collecting the cash and paying for the car load at the gate.
What to bring...
You will be riding in an open bottom tube down the river. If you don't want it wet don't bring it on the float part and leave in the car or at home.
Sunscreen, hats, swimsuit/wet wear and water shoes are a must. Water bottles with large carabiners that can be clipped to tube handles are also great to have. Small dry bags that can clip to large tube handles are great for phones/cash/wallets. You can bring a mask and snorkel to take a peek under the water as you float down river. Tie offs or bungee cords work well if you want to keep your tube attached to someone else's as you float.
Please bring a cooler/sack lunch and non alcoholic beverages to drink. As carpools are arranged members can offer to bring larger coolers for all in the car to place their lunch.
NOTE: ONLY non disposable containers are allowed in the park. NO disposable plastic/paper water containers or food containers are allowed. Please pack your lunch in a tupperware container and your water in a yeti, tervis or non disposable container you plan to bring home. Plastic silverware is also not allowed. Basically if it's plastic and you can't put it in a dishwasher don't bring it.
If you want to float at the swimming hole ONLY pool noodles are allowed.
You will be required to sign a waiver prior to entering the spring. Marine life may be present. Please research as you see fit.
NOTE: Trip is weather dependent and may be cancelled by organizers or the state if the park closes. I will keep everyone posted via the comments on the event.
Please do not sign up unless you are serious about attending as I would like to confirm headcount and start to arrange car pools within the next few weeks.
