## About this film

Make no mistake - the story of professional women’s sports could not be told without Billie Jean King. But in fighting for equity for herself and others, King was uncompromising to the point of subordinating her personal well-being by hiding her sexual orientation and eating disorders. Give Me the Ball! is an intimate portrait of the tennis champion, examining her impact on sports and culture through archival footage and candid interviews with her and others in her life. With a particular focus on 1973—a pivotal year when King was at the apex of both her tennis career and the women's movement—the film reveals the personal cost of upholding her principles while dominating on the court. Give Me the Ball! is a rousing portrait of a true game-changer, as passionate and principled at 82 as she ever was.
