Blue Heron (2025) is a critically acclaimed Canadian drama written and directed by Sophy Romvari, portraying a Hungarian immigrant family settling on Vancouver Island in the 1990s. Told from the perspective of the youngest daughter, Sasha (Eylul Guven), the film explores themes of memory, childhood, and navigating a family crisis caused by a brother's, Jeremy (Edik Beddoes), increasingly dangerous behavior. Plot & Tone: The film is a semi-autobiographical, nonlinear narrative described as a "nostalgic melancholy" look at family trauma, childhood, and memory.
