About Rôtie Cellars
Founded in 2007, Rôtie Cellars was born from a deep respect for the wines of France’s Rhône Valley and a belief that the Pacific Northwest could produce Rhône‑inspired wines of equal nuance, balance, and sense of place. Owner and winemaker Sean Boyd focuses on crafting traditional Northern and Southern Rhône–style blends using thoughtfully selected vineyard sites across Washington and Oregon, including the acclaimed Rôtie Rocks Estate Vineyard in The Rocks District of Milton‑Freewater.

Rôtie’s winemaking philosophy is intentionally restrained. Lower alcohol, moderate ripeness, minimal new oak, and site‑driven blending allow each vineyard to speak clearly. Rather than imposing a house style, the goal is to highlight the natural character of the fruit and the distinctiveness of each growing season. Fermentation, barrel use, and blending decisions are guided by balance and finesse rather than power or excess.

Approach to Sustainability & Stewardship
While Rôtie Cellars is not certified organic or biodynamic, sustainability is embedded in its vineyard‑first mindset. Boyd emphasizes that “90% of winemaking happens in the vineyard,” partnering with experienced growers who farm with intention, precision, and respect for their land. Practices such as careful canopy management, thoughtful yield control, and site‑appropriate varietal selection are central to maintaining vine health and long‑term vineyard viability.

At the winery level, Rôtie practices low‑intervention winemaking — using measured oak influence, controlled fermentation temperatures, and minimal manipulation — allowing the integrity of the fruit and soil to remain at the forefront. This philosophy reflects a broader commitment to responsible farming and expressive terroir rather than adherence to rigid certifications.

Wines & Experience
Rôtie Cellars is best known for its Northern and Southern Rhône‑style red and white blends, along with limited varietal bottlings produced in standout vintages. Production remains intentionally small and focused, ensuring hands‑on attention to each lot. The wines are built to age gracefully, rewarding patience while remaining approachable in their youth.
