What we’re about
We're a group that gathers on Saturday mornings to hike. It's an excellent way to stay fit, meet new friends and explore gorgeous SoCal.
We try to mix it up, and try new hikes around the LA area. We welcome suggestions for new hikes from our members.
We are not trained professionals - just a group of friends who like to get together to hike, so remember that you are always participating at your own risk!
Please join us, all are welcome!

THE UNIVERSE IS GIVING US A HINT that we need to get out. Well, at least the Universe of goofball/unofficial celebration days, because Saturday offers so many reasons to get out that no one has an excuse to stay inside. First and foremost:
Plus two other good reasons to head outdoors:
* National Audubon Day
* World Healing DayTo celebrate these "holidays," Kathryn has planned a lovely springtime hike in Westridge Canyon, along the Mandeville Fire Road to the Nike Lookout site @ San Vicente Mountain. An added plus? The flowers along the way should be in full burst mode!
The route is a winding, exposed road to one of the historic former Nike Missile sites. We'll be sharing the trail not only with fellow hikers enjoying Trails Day, but also with some off-leash dogs, and some respectful mountain bikers
Pending the weather and everyone's energy levels, we may continue a little beyond the Nike site on dirt Mulholland, heading West toward Sullivan Canyon (which sadly, remains closed given all the rain this Spring). But we'll return to the site and the shaded picnic tables, for our snack break and also take some time to walk up and enjoy the views -- and maybe bird sightings? -- from the Lookout Tower.
Following our break, we'll return the way we came.
There's no AllTrails map for this specific route, but here's a map of Westridge Canyonback Park showing Mandeville Fire Road and a map is posted in photos (showing the extended route on dirt Mulholland).
Since this is entirely exposed and parking can be limited, note 7 am start.
