San Marcos Aquatic Resources Center Tour

Details
The SMARC (San Marcos Aquatics Resources Center) https://www.fws.gov/office/san-marcos-aquatic-resources-center/what-we-do is a refugium – or safe harbor – for endangered species. They are focused heavily on the springs of the Edwards Aquifer and other west Texas spring systems.
They also focus on research related to propagation and the ecology of the species they keep, see the link above.
They use science and innovative technology to drive their management and conservation of these aquatic resources. You will get to see these species and how they research and propogate them.
Their Aquatic Ecology and Conservation Program studies multiple species that are not the primary focus of traditional fisheries programs, including insects, crustaceans, mollusks, salamanders, and toads.
There is limited space for this tour. Do not RSVP unless you will be present at the tour. We will meet at the older white building with the flagpole in the front. It will take roughly 2 hours. After the tour, there will be an optional lunch to attend in the San Marcos area.
