About us
I’m a teacher who left the public school classroom in 2021. But when I left, I wasn’t giving up on my students. I was looking for a way to do education better.
I wanted to explore what education could look like if it prepared children and adults alike to navigate a complex society, not just as students or workers, but as people, neighbors, and community members.
That idea became SOS 101, a community learning cohort where we tackle the big topics everyone is talking about and explore what they mean for the way we actually live. Some of the topics covered:
- Dialogue on Democracy: Government, Politics, & Civic Engagement
- Trailblazers of the Information Age: Misinformation, Propaganda, & AI-Generated Content
- The Social Era: Navigating social media & digital networks
- Our Natural Neighborhoods: Understanding your local ecosystem
- Health: Understanding our physical, emotional, & mental health
Through dialogue, research, and shared learning, we practice thinking critically, communicating clearly, and solving problems effectively, then turn what we learn into practical, sustainable choices in our everyday lives.
This group is for people who are concerned about the world we live in and want to learn how to be part of the solutions.
