Science Uncorked: Cannabis from Molecules to Mind
Presented by Owen Simpson, Neuroscience Graduate from Colorado College & Care Specialist with Hilltop Brain Injury Services
Humans have been using cannabis for thousands of years but only within the last few decades have we begun to apply rigorous scientific study to its use, effects, and misuse. We are still learning about cannabis’ potential as a widely accepted treatment for various illnesses while also navigating the challenges that come with substance use. In this presentation we’ll briefly review how this plant and its family of molecules causes the observed effects, how it impacts your brain, and how cannabis uniquely impacts our communities.
Owen Simpson is a neuroscience graduate from Colorado College. He currently works as a care specialist with Hilltop Brain Injury Services. Owen has served as a presenter at multiple undergraduate research conferences, and is excited to bring this presentation to Science Uncorked! This presentation was originally developed for Neuropharmacology students in the Psychology and Neuroscience Department of Colorado College.
