About us
Welcome to the Philadelphia Sci Fi Meetup group!
This group was created over twenty years ago and celebrates all things science fiction (as well as related genres like fantasy and horror) in literature, film, television, anime, comics, music and more. Sub genres like space opera, sword & planet, hard sci fi, cyberpunk, steampunk, grimdark, solarpunk, and afrofuturism are all in scope.
Over the years, the group has gone through active and dormant phases; today we are looking to revive it again after a long quiet period. Some events will be traditional hosted Meetups (an organizer hosting an event at a location), others will be for sci fi and related events in the area like conventions which fans can attend but which won't be organized in the traditional Meetup sense.
These days sci fi is more popular than ever, and there are tons of online options for enjoying it - but there's still something to be said for getting together with some like minded fans. Look forward to seeing you!
