Beginner Dancing Series
Details
You won't want to miss our summer beginner session!
Scottish country dance is a traditional social folk dance from Scotland. You and a partner dance a series of patterns in a "set" of 6 to 8 people to toe-tapping folk music. Come solo, with a partner, or with friends. (You don't need to be Scottish either—all are welcome!) Plus, every beginner hour ends with snacks!
Our class WELCOMES BEGINNERS. That means we'd love to have ANYONE and especially you!!!
New to town? Social dancing is a great way to make friends and get a bit of exercise. The dance community is close-knit and we're always mega stoked to see new people join!!
We're definitely low pressure. We dance for fun rather than performing. Dances are taught with gender-neutral terminology and you may dance with anyone else in class. When we make mistakes, we just laugh!
There is no dress code, but you may wear a kilt if you choose. Many dancers use "ghillies" or "pumps" on their feet, but any footwear you find comfortable (like sneakers) is acceptable.
This 9-week class meets Sundays at the Athens Community Center: June 7 – August 9 (no class July 26). Cost is $45 for the full series.
Come dance with us!
