Non-Rated Demo/Tournament

Details
On Friday, September 12, Geek Week PDX https://www.geekweekpdx.com/ is having an event to promote and feature a number of classic games. As part of that event, PDX Scrabble is planning to play and potentially have a demonstration Scrabble tournament in Director Park, 815 SW Park Ave, Portland, OR 97205 (https://www.portland.gov/parks/director-park).
If you are curious about playing competitive Scrabble, at 11:30, we will have the opportunity to learn about the game and the rules for competitive players, and to play a sample game with some of the more experienced players there. I ask that more seasoned Scrabble players who have the time attend this portion to demonstrate the game and help less experienced players out.
At 12:15, we will have registration for the tournament, and if enough players register, we will begin at 12:30. The tournament will be free, be 5 games, and will be held from 12:30-5:30. (If we have insufficient registrations for a tournament, we will play Scrabble anyway!)
This "tournament" will be non-rated, and use the WOW24 dictionary. https://wordgameplayers.org/wgpo-official-words/ Players who have never played in a tournament before will be allowed to use a common word list that we will provide and will be allowed 5 extra minutes on their clock.
If you decide not to play the tournament, you are welcome to stay around and play others who also decide not to participate in the tournament.
If you have deluxe Scrabble equipment/Protiles/Scrabble Clocks, please bring them.
The goal is to have fun playing Scrabble and to show others what fun it can be. This is a great opportunity to play your first tournament, get back into competitive Scrabble if you have been away from it for a while, or just to play some games in public to show the game to others.
